1.What do I do if I do not have electricity? A: Please contact Freeport Electric 24x7 at 516-378-0146.
The Freeport Electric Department is working round the clock to restore power in your area. We understand and appreciate your patience during this time.
2.What do I do if there are down power lines? A: Please do not approach or touch down power lines. Please contact the Freeport Electric Department 24x7 at 516-378-0146.
3.What do I do with fallen tree limbs? A:For small tree limbs that have fallen on your property, please place them on your curb and the Freeport Department of Public Works will have them removed. For tree trunks and/or fallen trees please contact a tree removal service.
4.What do I do if I need an electrician? A: Please contact the Freeport Department of Buildings at 516-377-2242 for permitting concerns. Please be advised that Mayor Hardwick has lifted the code requirement pertaining to licensed Freeport electricians. For the remainder of the week, the Village will accept a licensed electrician from any jurisdiction.
5.What do I do if I need a hot meal, shower or just a place to sit down and rest? A:The Freeport Recreation Center will be open, free of charge, for Freeport residents 6:00am to 10:00pm for the remainder of the week. Residents that have no power may utilize the facility. 6.May I use a generator to supply power to my home? A:If you must use a generator, please make sure the generator is away from your home, and placed outside. Please do not place generators within a garage.
7.May I use a kerosene heater? A:Kerosene heaters are not permitted within the Village of Freeport.

Director of the Freeport Office of Emergency Management When the forecast calls for snow,
we ask all residents to please do the following: 1. Move your cars off the street so that the snowplows can come through and clean curb to curb. 2. When shoveling or snow blowing on your property, please
remember that it isagainst the law to place that snow back
into the street. Aim the snow toward your home. 3. If you have a fire hydrant near your home, please shovel out
that area.
If you have any concerns regarding the plowing of snow on your street, please call the Department of Public Works at 516-377-2289.
